Fort Des Moines Museum & Education Center

Fort Des Moines has a unique place in US military history. During WWI, it became the home of the first officer training camp for African-American men. During WWII, it was the training center for the first women in the military; the WAACs.

While at Design Craftsmen, John designed exhibits to tell the story and take advantage of the historic fort building in which they are housed. Large windows provided ample natural light, and John created a glowing, meandering, freestanding wall that holds graphics, artifacts and interactives.
